CSR owns 70% of Gove Aluminium Finance Limited (GAF), which owns 36.05% of the Tomago aluminium smelter, near Newcastle in New South Wales. The Tomago smelter is Australia’s second largest and one of the world's lower cost and more efficient aluminium smelters.

The Tomago aluminium smelter has three potlines, with a total rated capacity of 525,000 tonnes a year.

Tomago produces three main types of aluminium - mould ingots, extrusion billets and rolling slabs.
