As Australians continue to embrace their outdoor spaces, it has become even more important to create cohesion between indoor areas and exterior colour palettes.

This is why Wattyl and PGH Bricks have collaborated to create seven new colour combinations that unite both areas of a home and reflect modern material choices.

Perfect Pairings Outdoor is perfect for consumers seeking professional advice on pairing paint colours with bricks, pavers, roofing and downpipes, to achieve exactly the look they want.

Wattyl and CSR PGH Bricks’ new exterior colour palettes illustrating perfect pairings of bricks, pavers and exterior paint colours for a wide variety of architectural styles and locations.

The perfect paint colours for brick homes, in fact.

Connecting inside and out

When looking for exterior colour schemes for brick homes, Wattyl’s Brand Marketing Manager, ANZ, Devina Glenzendorf, suggests that it makes sense to be inspired by the interior.

She adds that outdoor kitchens are one of the most popular upgrades to a home, with the exterior version often being an extension of the existing interior kitchen.

“To create a sense of cohesion and flow, the colour scheme is carried from one to the other, especially in terms of cladding, work benches and cabinetry,” she says.

This is just one reason that more Australians want colour combinations that unite their outdoor entertaining spaces with indoor reflective zones to create a whole, cohesive scheme.

When matching paint colours to complement brick, these palettes are the perfect starting point. Use a Wattyl paint colour chart to find the right colours for your brick home and create the perfect blend.

Latest trends

The latest looks are bold and beautiful, says Devina. “The bold, dark colours of deepest charcoal and rich black are teamed with burnished coppers – with grounded neutrals used to create a contrast,” she says.

Devina also highlights a return to beautiful muted earthy hues inspired by our natural environment, from eucalyptus green and sage to the raw earth ochres and tans.

“Whites will always be popular – for their light-reflective qualities and ability to make smaller areas look larger.  But we are now far more motivated by warmer neutrals and tone on tone colour schemes,” she says.

Texture remains a consistent driver in new style combinations, especially with brick homes.
