If it’s almost August, it must be Block O’Clock!

This year, in the 21st season of The Block, CSR is thrilled to be back again to help the teams build some spectacular homes. CSR brands on the show include Gyprock, Bradford Insulation, Bradford Ventilation, Cemintel Territory, PGH, and AFS Rediwall.

Set in the picturesque town of Daylesford, in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range of Victoria, famous for its natural mineral springs, show-stopping gardens and award-winning restaurants, The Block 2025 promises to again share the highs and lows of building and renovating.

For the first time ever, The Block is a brand-new build, with five identical homes all ready to be built from scratch with Block builders Nine in Six getting the site ready before the teams move in to add their own personal touches.

All five houses sit on 2000 square metre blocks; four times the size of the average Aussie home and each house is 346sqm each. The home sizes are generous, and the work will be demanding, but great things are expected as the series proceeds.

The houses are all exactly the same in size and layout, so it will be up to the contestants to show their creativity and initiative when it comes to styling and interior choices to really stand out. Each home has four bedrooms, three bathrooms, an open-plan kitchen/living area, rumpus, alfresco terrace, garage and a shed.

The teams this year

The first competition had the teams compete to be winners of the best float at the Daylesford Chill Out festival, with the top score going to WA police officer couple Britt and Taz.

Their prize was the choice of house, with the couple choosing House 3. Much agony as the other choices were made, but the final house configurations are:

House 1 – Emma and Ben, a married couple from Victoria. Teacher Emma is also a pole dancing instructor while Ben just left his job as an civil engineer.

House 2 – couple Han and Can, a mining professional and marketer.

House 3 – Britt and Taz, married police officers from Newman in Western Australia.

House 4 – Sonny and Alicia, a married couple (plumber and dental practice manager) from the Gold Coast.

House 5 – best friends Robby and Mat, from Adelaide. Robby is a barber, and Mat is a hairdresser.

Starting right

The CSR team has been onboard from the beginning to help get the homes set up nicely from the start, especially when it comes to protecting them from the Daylesford weather. Indeed, in the first episode Han gets a lesson in the correct way to install the Bradford wall insulation from The Block’s Foreman Dan.

While some team members are newbie renovators, some are experienced. There is a lot to learn but experience has taught us that skills on The Block improve fast and it all will even out as the show plays out.

Week 1 is all about learning on the tools, understanding what’s involved and getting into the swing of things. The teams will start with the main bathroom of the houses, which will get them understanding the plastering process, waterproofing and painting. It’s going to be big!
