Fire performance requirements for cladding

There have been several cases, over recent years, in which the presence of combustible façade materials on high rise buildings has resulted in fires. The worst example, which took place at West London’s Grenfell Tower in 2017, resulted in significant loss of life.

This incident, along with a string of similar fires both here in Australia and abroad, led local authorities to act. In 2019, to ensure that no such incident ever happens again, the National Construction Code (NCC 2019) was amended to provide clarity regarding external cladding and fire safety.

This session of CPD Live, ‘Facades Under Fire - Fire performance requirements for cladding’, focuses on these regulations.

Over the course of the presentation, we will explain the key considerations for fire performance requirements in relation to façades and cladding, identify all relevant wall design requirements, outline the purpose of Fire Standards test method referenced in the NCC, outline the use of performance requirements to achieve compliance, and more.

Our speaker will point you on the pathway to ensuring your next multi-storey project is compliant and fire safe.

Learning outcomes
