Where Performance Meets Style...

Choosing CSR Gyprock® and Cemintel™ as the product supplier for all internal and external linings optimises both the look and the performance of a home, as told by designer, Jamin Yarrow.

In order to meet the aesthetic and performance requirements of one of his latest residential projects Queensland, building designer Jamin Yarrow selected CSR Gyprock and Cemintel as the product supplier for all internal and external linings of his stunning Bardon house design.

Recently featured on Best Houses Australia TV show, Yarrow’s project showcases Gyprock’s Soundchek™ and Supaceil products in combination with Cemintel’s Designer Series range.

Described by Best Houses Australia presenter Gary Tackle as a “stunning, modern design” this four storey property presents a modern take on the traditional Queenslander home.

Yarrow selected the CSR products to achieve a family home that was both functional and beautiful. In addition to accessing Cemintel’s free rendering service, a unique resource Cemintel provides to all clients, Yarrow felt the benefit of using products from one supplier ensured greater consistency throughout the project.

Commenting on the selection of Cemintel’s Designer Series Urban Grey and Smooth Cream for the front and side façades, Cemintel’s Queensland Account Manager Sue Ann Dunlop explained that Yarrow wanted a modern, contemporary design that distinguished the home from the rest of its more traditional neighbouring builds.

Having worked closely with the building designer on this project, Ms Dunlop cites the quality and efficiency of the Designer Series range as its main draw points.

“Unique to the Australian market, Cemintel’s Designer Series range can be installed quickly by project carpenters due to its unique clipping system. As this walling system is pre-finished, clients can enjoy a high performance, low maintenance, great looking product, faster,” Dunlop says.

“The use of Designer Series Urban Grey on the external façade creates a raw industrial look that is increasingly favoured in current residential and commercial designs. It provides the property with a unique aesthetic that forms a striking contrast to the neighbour’s weatherboard facades.”

CSR Gyprock Soundchek also played a key role in facilitating the demands of family life. Selected for its acoustic performance benefits, Gyprock Soundchek was specified for the walls and ceiling of the media room ensuring the family can enjoy movies without disturbing the rest of the house.

This Bardon property is located on a narrow block and in close proximity to neighbours, so the acoustic performance of the building was important.

Yarrow’s design also utilised Supaceil, Gyprock’s latest innovation in ceiling products. Supaceil is the first plasterboard in Australia to feature Optimised Core technology, plus a stronger, thicker face paper and glass fibre reinforcement to deliver a stronger and lighter board.

It also has an advanced performance-to-weight ratio which equates to a greater breaking strength in a substantially lighter board that continues to exceed the performance requirements of Australian Standard AS 2588.

“As leading industry innovators, we undertake a lot research with the plastering fraternity to ensure our product development is meeting market needs,” explains Gyprock’s Queensland Account Manager Richard Metcalfe.

“We recently changed our production process for Supaceil to make the product lighter for handling which has great benefits for plastering contractors, delivery drivers, builders and homeowners.

“While removing weight we have also been able to improve the strength of the product. Plastering contractors now prefer to use our ceiling products over competitors because the stronger, harder paper helps achieve a crisper finish when painted,” Metcalfe adds.

Building designer Yarrow says CSR’s product range helped create a home that was both practical and stylish and complemented the Queensland style of living.

“We have used a lot of CSR products in the past as they are innovative and effective and both the Gyprock and Cemintel range and services offer a point of difference ahead of market competitors,” Yarrow explains.

“We especially love the Cemintel range as it continues to deliver on trend, low maintenance products that help our homes stand out amongst neighbours.

“We will continue to incorporate Gyprock and Cemintel products into future designs as they allow us push creative boundaries while still producing performance results that meet site demands and client expectations,” says Yarrow.
